This page explains what EchoLens collects in plain language, with a detailed section on the Talent Marketplace specifically. It is not a substitute for formal legal advice - if you need a full Terms of Service or a legally reviewed privacy policy, have one drafted by counsel before relying on this page for that purpose.
Creating a portal account collects your name, email or username, and whatever you add to your profile (phone, address, education). Course activity - submissions, grades, gems, streaks, attendance, and certificates - is recorded so the portal and your instructors can track your progress. This data is visible to EchoLens staff and, for gamification (stage, gems, streak, badges, courses), on your public learner profile at /u/<reg no> if you choose to share that link.
The Talent Marketplace is entirely opt-in for students. Nothing about it is visible to anyone until you explicitly publish your profile, and you can unpublish it at any time.
What a published profile shows publicly - to anyone, signed in or not: your headline, about section, city, remote/availability/work-type preferences, skills, education, experience, the links you add (GitHub, LinkedIn, personal site), and your projects. It also shows a "Verified by EchoLens" block built automatically from your real course data: courses completed, certificates earned (each linking to its public QR verification page), your current level and gems, and per-course completion percentages from instructor-graded work. Your expected salary is only shown if you turn that on explicitly; it is hidden by default.
What is never shown publicly, on any project or profile page, to anyone - your email, phone number, and resume. These are never rendered on a public page or to a recruiter by default, regardless of how the recruiter got there.
What an approved recruiter can see beyond the public page - your email, phone, and resume, but only after you personally accept a specific contact request from that specific recruiter. Accepting one recruiter's request does not reveal your details to any other recruiter. Every acceptance is logged permanently (recruiter, student, timestamp, the message they sent) as an audit record, kept even if you later unpublish your profile.
How EchoLens staff use search data - recruiter searches are logged (the filters used and how many results came back) so EchoLens can see aggregate patterns, such as which skills recruiters search for most, and to review the platform for abuse. This log does not include which specific student profiles a recruiter viewed.
How to withdraw - unpublish your profile at any time from Talent Profile in the portal. This immediately removes it from search results, from its public URL (visitors get a "not found" page), and from every recruiter's shortlist view. It does not delete contact requests you have already accepted or the audit record of any contact reveal - those are kept for accountability, exactly as described above. An EchoLens admin can also unpublish a profile or project (for example, in response to a report); when that happens you are told the reason and can fix the issue and republish.
